32-year-old Arnault Labaronne has just completed the shooting of his 8th film, Little Weakness, a drama during which a young couple (Florence Loiret-Caille and Anthony Hallot) is confronted with new desires...
Nothing to do apparently with his previous productions. Hard Blow is an absurd short sitcom, Same Blood is a cruelly realistic film about homophobia, BUG is a weird and wacky adaptation of the fairytale "Sleeping Beauty", Appel d'air is an intimist and poetic drama, Carcasses flirts with snuff movies, Christmas Eve adapts with sensuality a play by Strindberg. Arnault's approach to both subject matter and artistic choices is utterly eclectic.
All this results from a self-taught education from the age of 16. Arnault attended a dramatic arts school. He learned how to shoot and to edit, received a bachelor's and master's degree in cinema, worked as a unit manager, an assistant director and an actor... At 19 he signed a medium-length fiction film and at 24, a 52-minute documentary for french television.
Since 2001, his films have been selected in more than 60 international film festivals (including Los Angeles Outfest, New York Gay & Lesbian, Sao Paulo Mostra, Odense, Washington DCIFF, Luxembourg Cynenygma, Interfilm Berlin, Seoul AIFF, Saint-Affrique…) and have won ten prices.
Arnault is now writing his first feature and working for french television ("Courts chez Pink" for Pink TV). In the meantime, he turns toward commercials, music videos and infomercials...
